Retro cars are the delight of many an auto lover, so it makes sense to recreate their classic styles from time to time. When combined with the technology of a concept car, the result is simply stunning. This is evident in the beautiful recreation of the Citroën DS, the DS21 Renaissance by Slimane Toubal.
Concept cars are always exciting, especially considering how quickly technology is always changing the industry. Many car shows like the Chicago Auto Show or the Geneva Motor Show exhibit the changes between cars then and now. A lot of new and never-before-seen concepts, like the QUANT e-Sportslimousine that runs on saltwater, demonstrate how far technology has brought us. Some cars, like the Wolseley Voyager that features a body like that of its 1899 namesake, remind us where the auto industry began.
The Renaissance hopes to combine these ideas to bring to remembrance its predecessor of decades past, the Citroën DS. With a similar long, thin windows and low top, you can certainly see the resemblance. However, Slimane has also incorporated many new and modern styles to produce a truly one-of-a-kind concept car.
Capturing the iconic shape of the estate wagon and combining it with a modern, sporty style of the French brand, Slimane accomplishes a beautiful blend of aerodynamics, aggressive wheels, smooth edges, and a new take on fender skirts.
Currently still a concept, perhaps we will soon see it showing off at a car show.
